The New Zealand Rugby (NZR) rugby union governing body has launched NZR+, its new globally available streaming platform covering exclusive behind-the-scenes content.

The free-to-subscribe platform will cover the country's various representative national sides - the All Blacks, Black Ferns, All Blacks Sevens, Black Ferns Sevens, Māori All Blacks, and New Zealand Under 20s.

NZR+ will launch with two four-episode documentaries following the men’s All Blacks and women’s Black Ferns 2022 seasons, where fans will gain access to the perspectives of players and coaches behind the scenes, throughout the season.

NZR+ will also host the All Blacks Podcast, NZR' Around the Grounds Podcast, Small Blacks TV, and historical series.

NZR chief executive, Mark Robinson, said: “It is an incredibly proud moment for us to be opening up to fans all over the world with authentic, never-seen-before content of our national teams on NZR+. We know there are millions of All Blacks, Black Ferns, and wider New Zealand rugby fans across the world.

“We have a huge opportunity with the creation of NZR+ to inspire and engage directly with fans in a deeper way through content– enabling them to connect with our game, our players, and the amazing stories attached to them.

“NZR+ is the result of a simple concept, to be more fan-centric. With the investment and technology capabilities of Silver Lake, alongside the collaboration across rugby especially within the All Blacks and Black Ferns team environments we have built a product that aims to unify and inspire at a global scale."

Earlier this month, NZR hired Craig Fenton to lead its commercial division.

Fenton succeeds recently departed Richard Thomas as chief executive of the governing body’s commercial arm - NZR Commercial - and will take up the role in January 2024.

NZRC was formed after NZR secured a NZ$465 million ($325 million) investment from US private equity firm Silver Lake, with the deal giving Silver Lake a stake of up to 8.58% in NZRC. Thomas had only been placed at the helm in August after working as the chief commercial officer of NZ Rugby.
