The annual Sportel Monaco sports business conference returns later this month, with over 1,500 executive participants in attendance.
This year's conference at the Grimaldi Forum events and conference center in Monte-Carlo between October 28 and 30 will feature a series of exciting masterclasses, visionary keynotes, innovative presentations, and successful partner case studies around the latest trends revolutionizing the sports and media broadcast industry.
Speakers include the likes of Javier Tebas, president of Spanish soccer’s LaLiga, who will share the latest insights into the league’s fight against digital piracy, Kosmos-Kings League founder (and former soccer superstar) Gerard Pique, Yiannis Exarchos, chief executive of Olympic Broadcast Services, executive director of the European Broadcasting Union Glen Killane, James Frewin from the Professional Fighters League, World Rugby's Gareth Rees, and Nevio Devide from the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
Essential insights on the future of the sports industry will be given throughout the three-day event, via a series of Masterclasses with expert panelists discussing everything from the broadcasting reach of the recent Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, through the future growth journey of cricket, to the changing role of sponsorship in a sports industry under increasing pressure to generate substantial revenue.
The Speakers Corner slot, meanwhile, will host a series of presentations and explanations from brands and companies aiming to highlight the latest technology trends for the sports business industry, such as LiveU, Wurl, Spiideo, Amazon Web Services (AWS), WSC Sports, and Pixellot.
In terms of new features for 2024, the Innovation Stage will feature presentations from brands such as Infront Lab, while there will also be an event championing women involved in the sports broadcast and innovation industry, co-sponsored by AWS.
The event, Sportel has said, represents "an unprecedented level of conference programming, capturing the hottest topics and trends ... the largest gathering of its kind, bringing together decision makers from the global sports media industry."
In terms of major international sports properties to be attending, these include soccer's FIFA, UEFA, and Premier League, American football's NFL, basketball's NBA, and motor racing's Formula 1, as well as a myriad of other governing bodies and leagues.
Sports agencies such as Infront, IMG, and Sportfive will also be present, as will major sports broadcasters such as DAZN, ESPN, and BeIN.

In 2024, the focus on emerging trends such as AI and innovations for broadcast demonstrates how Sportel remains at the forefront of innovation.”
Later this year, meanwhile, Sportel will head to New York across December 16 and 17 in a new initiative, while next year the event will return to Miami for Sportel America across April 1 and 2. This year’s equivalent event took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina - the first time the conference has headed to South America.
Laurent Puons, CEO of the overall Sportel operation, has said, regarding the New York event: “New York has always been on a destination wish list for the Sportel community, as a pulse of sports media in North America and with major broadcasters and US and European leagues all having a presence here."
