North American basketball’s NBA has agreed a deal with FIBA to carry the international governing body’s Courtside 1891 digital platform and provide coverage of the upcoming World Cup.
Through the tie-up, the NBA App and NBA.com will carry FIBA’s digital platform and show the tournament in 20 countries and territories.
The countries and territories included are Angola, Argentina, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, the Czech Republic, the Dominican Republic, Greece, Indonesia, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland, Puerto Rico, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.
Fans in those markets can watch games with the purchase of the FIBA World Cup Pass which will offer live and on-demand games, extended highlights, and top plays.
The coverage available on Courtside 1891 complements the live broadcasts that will be made by FIBA’s broadcast partners in over 190 territories across the world.
FIBA claims this year’s flagship event is on track to have “the biggest and broadest distribution ever.”
Taking place in the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia, the 2023 World Cup will feature 32 teams playing in 92 games over 16 days of competition between August 25 and September 10.
