The National Basketball Association (NBA), North America’s elite basketball competition, has promoted Jonathan Tillman to the position of executive vice president of team marketing and business operations (TMBO).

Tillman, who has been the league's senior vice president of TMBO since 2020, will oversee the department in charge of supporting NBA, WNBA, NBA G League, and NBA 2K League teams with business operations, such as ticketing, partnerships, marketing, digital, arena experience, and data and analytics.

He will report to NBA deputy commissioner and chief operating officer Mark Tatum.

Tatum said: “Jonathan has played an instrumental role in the transformative growth of NBA teams’ business operations over the past several years. His extensive experience working and consulting with our teams will be of enormous value to the league as he takes on this expanded leadership position.”

Tillman joined the NBA in 2013 as director of TMBO, serving as a WNBA and NBA G League account manager, before leading the ticket sales strategy group, overseeing ticketing consulting across all NBA, WNBA, and G League teams.

Before joining the NBA, Tillman worked for the Atlanta Hawks franchise, Major League Baseball team the San Diego Padres, and former National Hockey League team the Atlanta Thrashers, working in ticket sales, service, and fan experience.

Last month, the NBA brought Amy Brooks in as its first-ever president of new business ventures.

She will be in charge of identifying both domestic and international “revenue-generating business opportunities” for the league.
