Musical chairs at Genius, Kay to replace Levy as board chair

Kenneth J.Kay has been working as an independent director at Genius Sports since March last year.

Sports and media technology firm Genius Sports has announced a restructuring of its board of directors.

Kenneth J. Kay, an experienced sports industry executive, will become the board’s chair, with the current incumbent of that role, David Levy, moving to a position as a strategic advisor to Genius. These changes are effective as of this month.

Levy was first appointed as chair in April 2021.

Kay comes with a resume including "decades of experience as CFO for global and Fortune 500 companies.”

He has been working as an independent director since March last year.

Claire Valoti, meanwhile, is set to come on board as a new independent director. She is a former vice president of international at Snap.

Mark Locke, chief executive of Genius Sports, has said: “I am thrilled to welcome the appointment of Ken Kay as our chair and Claire Valoti as a director. Their expertise and vision will be instrumental in driving the next phase of Genius Sports’ growth. I also want to extend my gratitude to David Levy for his service as chair since April 2021.”

Kay added: “It has been an honor to serve as an independent director of the Genius Sports Board. I now look forward to taking the lead as chair and contributing to Genius Sports’ further advancements in pioneering sports data.”

Earlier this month, Genius and Canadian football’s CFL competition unveiled a new partnership with the country’s TSN broadcaster to transform its coverage of the league.
