Eurosport India, an arm of the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned international sports broadcaster, has renewed its deal with the MotoGP motorcycling property through the 2026 season.
Through an agreement unveiled earlier today, the broadcaster will continue as MotoGP's home across India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Maldives, for the next two-and-a-half years. The agreement also covers the subsidiary Moto2 and Moto3 series.
The deal, which extends an earlier MotoGP-Eurosport India tie-up, has been struck with Dorna Sports, the MotoGP rights holder.
The announcement of the tie-up comes soon after Dorna Sports agreed a new hosting contract through 2027 with the government of the Indian state, Uttar Pradesh.
As part of the agreement, the Grand Prix of India will return to the MotoGP calendar in 2025 after this year’s edition – scheduled for September - was postponed by the organizers in May “due to operational considerations.”
The race at Buddh International Circuit outside the Indian capital Delhi made its debut on the MotoGP calendar in 2023 - India has been talked about as a significant growth market by MotoGP for several years.
Carlos Ezpeleta, the chief sporting officer for MotoGP at Dorna Sports, added: “India is a key market and fanbase for MotoGP. There are millions of motorcycles on the roads, making it vital for the MotoGP manufacturers and many of our partners, and we have a strong established audience that also offers huge opportunities for exponential growth.
“We are excited to continue our partnership with Eurosport India and work together to maximize our potential in the world's most populous country.”
In terms of MotoGP broadcast rights agreements, late June saw the series extend its deal with pay-TV broadcaster Ziggo Sport in the Netherlands for another five years.
Ziggo will continue to provide Dutch motorcycling fans with live and exclusive coverage of all races, qualifying, and practice sessions, the Moto2 and Moto3 series, and the MotoE World Championship.
The 2024 MotoGP World Championship began in Qatar in March, and will come to an end in Valencia, Spain, in mid-November.
The next round is set for August 4 at the Silverstone track in England.
