Monaco bring in Renault as UCL front-of-shirt sponsor

This deal is separate from the club's Ligue 1 front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with APM.

Monaco, of French top-tier soccer’s Ligue 1, have signed up car brand Renault as their front-of-shirt sponsor for matches in the UEFA Champions League club competition this season.

The club, set to compete in the pan-European Champions League (UCL) in 2024-25 following a second-place finish last campaign, will have the Renault 5 E-Tech electric vehicular brand displayed on the front of their kits for UCL fixtures.

This marks a significant move from Monaco, now one of the few clubs to split their front-of-shirt sponsorships between competitions. Domestically, the fashion jewellery brand APM will act in that capacity across Monaco’s Ligue 1 fixtures, through a deal unveiled last November.

However, the R5 logo will also be present in a less-high-visibility spot on the men’s team’s shirts for Ligue 1 games.

As well as shirt sponsorship rights, the Renault brand will be present at the Stade Louis-II stadium in the principality of Monaco, as well as on the club’s various online and digital platforms.

In addition, a fleet of 20-plus Renault vehicles will be provided to the Ligue 1 club.

Monaco’s first game of the 2024-25 Ligue 1 campaign will take place on August 17 against St-Etienne, while the first of their eight UCL group-stage match dates - expanded from last season’s six - will come in mid-September.

Other European soccer clubs with split front-of-shirt sponsors - depending on the competition - include German giants Borussia Dortmund.

Early June saw Monaco agree a new partnership with ComAve, the e-commerce platform, and renew their deal with recruitment company Triangle Intérim Solutions RH.
