The MNC Indonesian media group has secured exclusive domestic broadcast rights to soccer's 2024 UEFA European Championship national teams tournament after striking a deal with heavyweight sports marketing agency Infront.
The agreement covers all qualifiers, playoffs, and the UEFA Nations League, which will be shown across MNC’s platforms, including free-to-air broadcaster RCTI and pay TV channels.
Infront is the exclusive national teams’ media rights partner of UEFA in Indonesia through a deal with CAA Eleven agency, UEFA's main exclusive sales agent for its national team competitions. Infront's deal, running until 2028, covers the Euros in 2024 and 2028, all editions of the Nations League over the contract, and the one-off Finalissima match between the winners of the Euros and of South America’s equivalent Copa America.
Amikam Kranz, vice president of media, technology, and betting at Infront, said: "MNC's extensive reach and innovative approach to broadcasting are unparalleled in Indonesia. We're thrilled that Infront was able to reach an agreement with UEFA to bring the UEFA Euro and Nations League experience to millions of football fans in Indonesia."
Hary Tanoesoedibjo, executive chairman of the MNC Group, added: "The UEFA Euro 2024 rights align perfectly with our mission to deliver premium sports content to Indonesian viewers. This partnership will enable us to offer a comprehensive and immersive football experience, solidifying our position as a leading broadcaster in Indonesia."
The MNC Group has broadcast the UEFA Euros since 1996.
UEFA has concluded several recent broadcast deals for Euro 2024, with Viettel Telecom gaining rights in Vietnam, BNT and Nova acquiring rights in Bulgaria, and Globo and CazéTV, the Brazilian YouTube channel run by prominent streamer Casimiro Miguel, securing rights in that country.
Last month (November), meanwhile, SPOTV, the pan-regional sports channel of South Korean broadcaster Eclat Media, acquired exclusive rights in Malaysia and Singapore, while SportyTV, the African media platform, landed a package of free-to-air rights in sub-Saharan Africa.
The opening match of the Euros will see hosts Germany face Scotland on June 14 at the Allianz Arena in Munich. The final will take place on July 14 at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.
Last month Infront also helped broker a quartet of winter sport commercial deals for footwear and apparel firm Skechers, with the International Ski Federation (FIS), the International Luge Federation (FIL), and the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB).
Infront is also each of these bodies’ exclusive marketing partners.
