Joe Markowski is leaving his position as head of DAZN in North America, the major sports streaming service has revealed.

DAZN issued a short statement yesterday, with Markowski - who has also been in charge of the service's global boxing offering - then putting a LinkedIn post out this morning. He will remain as an advisor to the business.

Markowski originally worked at Perform, the initial parent company of DAZN, from 2011 to 2014. He then initially had a role as a global commercial manager at the company, before working through a series of positions over the next seven years. He eventually became chief executive of DAZN North America in September 2022.

It has also been confirmed that Pete Oliver will, from this point forward, be responsible for DAZN’s global boxing proposition - the service has boxing as one of the main sports it holds significant rights for.

DAZN has said that Markowski has “played a significant role in the development of DAZN in his 13 years with the company, helping to lay solid foundations for the global boxing proposition and expanding DAZN’s presence in Japan and the US.”

Markowski stated: “It’s with a mixture of excitement and gratitude that we announce my departure from DAZN after 13 fantastic years.

“I’m excited now to watch DAZN continue its growth and evolution under Shay [Shay Segev, DAZN’s chief executive] and the leadership team, and to helping where I can as a senior advisor to the business.”

Oliver, meanwhile, joined DAZN in August 2022 as chief marketing officer, before transitioning to a position as CEO of growth markets last October.

Last month, DAZN named former Canal Plus executive Brice Daumin as chief executive of its operations in France and Switzerland.

February also saw DAZN announce Yu Sasamoto, a former senior executive at X (formerly Twitter), as chief executive of its operations in Japan.
