Olympique Lyonnais, of French soccer’s top-tier Ligue 1, have extended their tie-up with the Motor France brand for the next three seasons.
That firm will carry on as the club’s exclusive automotive supplier, and also as its sleeve sponsor, for the 2024-25, 2025-26, and 2026-27 campaigns.
The renewal was brokered by Sportfive, with that agency holding Lyon’s commercial rights.
MG Motor France has been a partner of Lyon, who finished sixth in last season’s top-tier Ligue 1, since before the 2021-22 campaign.
The brand replaced AliExpress, the online retail service owned by Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, which served as the team’s sleeve sponsor in a short-term deal in the 2020-21 season.
MG Motor France is a major partner of the club, alongside Groupama, Staffmatch, and Aushopping.
The two premium partners, meanwhile, are Emirates and NIKE.
Laurent Prud’homme, Olympique Lyonnais managing director, has said: “Olympique Lyonnais is particularly pleased to be making this long-term commitment for three new seasons, which will enable our teams to support the synergies developed for the benefit of our respective brands, and to experiment together with virtuous mobility.”
Earlier this month, Lyon and digital ecommerce platform ComAve announced a strategic partnership until 2027.
Haojie Guo, chair and chief executive at MG Motor France, added: “This collaboration is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate perseverance and innovation. Together, we will continue to write memorable pages in the history of sport and motoring around the world, in the French and international markets.”
