US women’s golf’s LPGA and major sports broadcaster ESPN have signed a new two-year rights deal through the 2025 season.

The extended tie-up will see ESPN livestream featured group coverage at eight LPGA Tour events on the ESPN+ streaming service.

ESPN+ will cover selected LPGA Tour tournaments with the feed showcasing the rounds of four featured groups, two in the morning and two in the afternoon. Featured groups are those that are featured most in live coverage.

The agreement covers the 2023 and 2024 editions of the CME Group Tour Championship, as well as further LPGA events that will be announced in 2024.

Tim Bunnell, senior vice president of programming and international for ESPN, added: “ESPN’s commitment to covering world-class golf and women’s sports has never been stronger, and having more of the LPGA on ESPN+ is a vital component of that commitment.

“With PGA Tour live on ESPN+, the Masters, PGA Championship, TGL, and now the LPGA on ESPN+, we’re bringing more golf to more fans than ever before.”

The deal follows on from previous partnerships, with ESPN+ also having shown featured group coverage of the LPGA Tour live and exclusively last year.

In 2022, ESPN+ streamed the Queen City Championship and the NW Arkansas Championship.

ABC also covered the CME Group Tour Championship from 2015 to 2018.

The ESPN deal follows on from US financial firm CME Group extending and expanding its title sponsorship deal with the LPGA, covering the end-of-season Tour Championship.

Under a two-year extension running through the 2025 tournament, the total purse available during the Tour Championship has increased in size to $11 million, including a record $4 million on offer to the first-placed finisher and $1 million going to the runner-up.
