The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has partnered with TikTok, the short-form video platform, for the upcoming Paris 2024 Paralympics,

Through that event, running from August 28 to September 8, TikTok will aim to “engage fans with more unique content than ever before.”

This unveiling follows soon after the IPC announced a similar deal with Google-owned global video platform YouTube, which will involve the Paralympics YouTube channel providing its most extensive coverage of the event.

The TikTok tie-up will involve several elements, such as over 400 clips of the action being shared, around 50 TikTok LIVE videos with athletes, daily highlights, and para sport explainers.

Mike Peters, chief executive at the IPC, has now said: “TikTok has quickly established itself as the IPC’s largest social platform for engaging global audiences and we are really excited to deepen our relationship with them for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

“For Paris 2024 we will be sticking to the winning content formula that has led to such global engagement – showcasing the best performances, highlighting the nuances of Paralympic sport, and featuring the ups and downs that come with being a high-performance athlete.”

Adam Wang, TikTok Live’s head, added: “With TikTok LIVE, we're offering our global community an unprecedented opportunity to engage with the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games in real-time, all while supporting the growth and development of Para sport worldwide.”

In terms of Paralympics broadcast coverage, late June saw Spanish public service broadcaster RTVE secure rights.
