The club have been playing without a sponsor in recent weeks after a dispute with DigitalBits.

Inter Milan, the top Italian soccer club, have agreed a short-term shirt sponsorship deal with Paramount+, the streaming service owned by the major US broadcast network.

The Paramount+ logo featured on the front of the Serie A club’s shirts for their final league game against Torino on Saturday (3 June) and will do so again for Inter’s upcoming UEFA Champions League final against English giants Manchester City this weekend (June 10).

The agreement is understood to be worth around €4 million ($4.3 million).

From next season, it has been reported that Paramount+ will serve as Inter’s back-of-shirt sponsor and pay an additional €6 million, with €1.5 million of that being allocated to create video content.

The Italian giants have been playing without a front-of-shirt sponsor in recent weeks after removing the logo of blockchain platform DigitalBits due to issues with contract payments.

The firm reportedly missed payments worth €24 million in total.

DigitalBits had signed a four-year contract with Inter in the opening weeks of the 2021-22 campaign. That deal was initially for sleeve sponsorship rights until 2025, switching to front-of-shirt rights ahead of 2022-23.

UEFA does not permit clubs to sign shirt sponsorship deals specifically for the Champions League final but has approved Inter’s request to do so given the circumstances around the DigitalBits fallout.

This issue also affected Inter’s Serie A rivals Roma who removed the DigitalBits logo from their shirts as well.

Paramount holds Serie A rights in the US and shows games through its CBS Sports network in a deal running until the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

Inter will take on Man City at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey, on Saturday, seeking to win Europe’s elite club competition for a fourth time.

The club last won the Champions League in the 2009-10 season.
