IMG, Mediapro renew international rights deal with Concacaf

The pair will continue to distribute the international rights for Concacaf’s national team competitions and club competitions.

Sports media agencies IMG and Mediapro will continue to distribute the international rights for tournaments and competitions organized by Concacaf, soccer’s governing body across North and Central America and the Caribbean, in 2023 and 2024 after renewing their agreements.

The deals will see the agencies distribute media rights outside the Americas to the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup, 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup, rebranded Concacaf Champions Cup, and Concacaf Caribbean Cup, as well as the newly created Concacaf Central American Cup.

As part of the renewal, the companies have agreed to work together with Concacaf to devise new strategies aimed at increasing the visibility of the competitions worldwide.

Heidi Pellerano, Concacaf’s chief commercial officer, said: “This collaboration marks a new era of growth and global visibility for Concacaf, enabling us to showcase the unparalleled passion and excellence of football in our region to audiences worldwide.

“Together we will create captivating experiences, delivering dynamic content and unlocking exciting opportunities for our fans, partners, and stakeholders.”

The 2023 Concacaf Golf Cup is due to run from June 24 to July 16, while the first edition of the Concacaf 2024 W Gold Cup will be held from February 20 to March 10.

The inaugural editions of the Concacaf Caribbean Cup, which is replacing the Caribbean Club Championship, as well as the Concacaf Central American Cup, will run from August to December.

The Champions Cup, meanwhile, will replace the existing Champions League in 2024 and expand to 27 clubs.

Earlier this week (June 14), Concacaf announced a sponsorship-based strategic partnership with FIFA to “jointly promote and market partnership opportunities for selected national team competitions” in the build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup being held across Mexico, the US, and Canada. The partnership will see Concacaf tournaments offered to potential sponsors alongside the World Cup.
