Live-streaming platform FuboTV has entered into a partnership with Willow by Cricbuzz, the collaborative cricket-centric platform launched in late March.
Through this tie-up, the Willow by Cricbuzz platform is launching on FuboTV as the men’s T20 World Cup gets underway tomorrow (June 1).
Through a multi-year deal, over 220 live matches annually will be available to subscribers of the International Sports Plus package on FuboTV.
North American cricket-centric broadcaster Willow TV recently unveiled a strategic partnership with Cricbuzz, the cricket news and statistical content site.
Willow by Cricbuzz sees Willow TV live-streaming incorporated as an option into Cricbuzz’s online site, for US and Canadian fans, with in-match clips now also available.
Both Willow TV and Cricbuzz are owned by the Times of India major media group in that country.
Todd Mathers, Fubo’s senior vice president, content strategy and administration, said: “Fubo is the only multichannel platform aggregating sports from the major leagues to niche favorites, and delivering it through a single personalized and intuitive streaming experience. We’re thrilled to work with our partners at Willow by Cricbuzz to bring this rising sport to our customers.”
Todd Myers, chief operating officer at Willow by Cricbuzz, added: “This collaboration not only enhances the viewing options for diehard fans but also introduces the sport to new audiences, helping to expand and strengthen the cricket community across North America.”
The T20 World Cup will mark the first-ever major ICC tournament to be part-hosted by the US, one of cricket’s great untapped markets.
The tournament - which is being joint-hosted by several Caribbean nations - begins tomorrow with the US taking on Canada, and ends on June 29.
Aside from ICC events, Willow TV holds domestic rights to the Major League Cricket franchise competition which launched last year, through to 2028.
