Fox Deportes and Telemundo, two of the US' Spanish-language networks. have announced a live broadcasting agreement for the upcoming American football Super Bowl LIX (59) on February 9, 2025.
The partnership for the event at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans will have the largest Spanish-language distribution in the US for any Super Bowl, Fox Sports (the English sister network) has said.
The two networks will produce separate broadcasts for the Super Bowl.
Carlos Sanchez, executive vice president and general manager of Fox Deportes, has commented: “Since the first Super Bowl in Spanish-speaking US history, Fox Deportes has been at the forefront of Spanish-language NFL coverage.
“Both companies have played a pivotal role in the rapid growth of the league’s Hispanic fan base and we are proud to partner with Telemundo to bring the Super Bowl to more Spanish-speaking viewers than ever before in a historic moment for the league and its Spanish-speaking fans.”
Hans Schroeder, NFL executive vice president of media distribution, added: “Offering live NFL games in Spanish is key to reaching the NFL’s large and growing Spanish-speaking fan base.
“We are constantly looking for ways to expand access to our games and reach more fans, and this partnership is another step forward. We are excited about the experience Fox Deportes and Telemundo will create for Super Bowl LIX.”
Fox Deportes was the first network to broadcast the Super Bowl in Spanish in the United States in 2014.
Super Bowl LIX will be the network’s fifth Super Bowl broadcast, the most of any Spanish-language network.
Fox's English network is set to serve as the exclusive US broadcaster of Super Bowl LIX as part of a multi-year, multi-broadcaster deal that sees domestic rights for the Super Bowl rotate between Fox, NBCUniversal-owned NBC, Disney-owned ABC and ESPN, and Paramount-owned CBS.
Fox last broadcast the Super Bowl in 2023, and will do so next in 2029, making this the last chance for Fox to capitalize on the major broadcast opportunity with ad space for the next few years, as its TV rivals each take turns at the fixture in the interim.
