World soccer's governing body FIFA has opened a new office in Miami, Florida as it prepares to stage its 2026 men's World Cup across the US, Canada, and Mexico.

Specifically, the headquarters will be located in the Miami suburb of Coral Gables around seven miles from Downtown Miami, with the organization’s website already listing multiple job opportunities including an accountant, payroll manager, and chief security officer.

More jobs are expected to be posted as the buildup to the tournament continues.

FIFA will share a building with television network HBO, which is close to the upmarket Miracle Mile shopping center.

A FIFA spokesperson said: “As part of ongoing preparations for the World Cup 2026, set to be the largest and most exciting sporting event in the world, FIFA has opened an office in Miami.”

Miami has become a soccer hotspot in the US, with the city’s Major League Soccer club Inter Miami home to legend Lionel Messi and club owner David Beckham.

The city is one of 11 American host cities for the 2026 World Cup, with at least five matches to be played in the 64,767-seat Hard Rock Stadium.

Other host cities include Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Kansas, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Boston, Philadelphia, and New York/New Jersey.

Miami is also bidding to be home to the tournament’s international broadcast center, main media center, and fan festival.

The city has also been touted as a possible host city for next year’s Copa America national teams competition after Conmebol, the South American soccer confederation, confirmed the event would be played in the US as part of a strategic tie-up with Concacaf, its counterpart in North and Central America and the Caribbean.

Concacaf, meanwhile, moved its headquarters to Miami in 2018.

FIFA is in the middle of staging its biggest Women’s World Cup to date in Australia and New Zealand, with multiple records for women’s soccer already broken in the first two weeks of the tournament.

Last week, Mengniu, the major Chinese dairy firm, extended its significant commercial tie-up with FIFA until 2030.

Brands to have renewed with FIFA in recent months include fast food heavyweight McDonald’s and global brewing giant AB InBev (through its Budweiser brand). Both firms have struck deals through the 2026 World Cup.
