The International Automobile Federation (FIA) has launched a tender process to find a promoter for the World Rallycross Championship (World RX) from this year onwards.

The firm selected will replace the Rallycross Promoter firm, which has been in charge of commercial rights to World RX since early 2021. Before that, sports marketing powerhouse IMG held that role.

The FIA has said that “core goals” for prospective new promoters include targeting the markets of India, China, North America, and the Middle East, as key growth areas, as well as securing increased digital and on-site fan engagement.

The body has put a deadline of 9:00 am Central European Time on November 20 for companies to express formal expressions of interest to the FIA’s Off Road department. Further information can be requested by contacting offroad@fia.com.

The promoter, the FIA has said, will be charged with ensuring “World RX delivers for its current teams as well as attracting interest from new stakeholders.”

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, president of the FIA, has stated: “The FIA World Rallycross Championship has evolved a huge amount in terms of technology and sporting competition in recent years while remaining true to its heritage as one of the most exciting and accessible categories in all of motorsport.

“We are now seeking a promoter with strong passion and drive to create an incredible rallycross spectacle, attracting manufacturers to compete and ensuring the continued development of the championship.”

IMG had promoted World RX since 2013 when it took on the FIA European Rallycross Championship and converted it into a global series.

Arne Dirks was appointed to head up Rallycross Promoter after the vehicle was created.

This tender has been launched a few weeks after the 2025 World RX calendar was unveiled - eight events across eight countries are scheduled, with the series beginning in late January in Canada.
