Motor racing's top-tier Formula 1 (F1) has today unveiled a two-year media rights deal in India with the sports streaming service FanCode.

The partnership runs through until the end of the 2025 season and sees FanCode become the series’ exclusive partner in that major developing market.

FanCode will cover all races, as well as every practice, qualifying, and sprint session.

Coverage will begin over the weekend, as the 2024 F1 campaign gets underway in Bahrain, with the first race itself on Saturday (March 2).

Last season, F1 was covered in India by the F1 TV streaming service. Before that, it had been covered by Star Sports between 2016 and 2022.

This eleventh-hour tie-up follows hot on the heels of F1 unveiling a decade-long deal earlier this week with the BeIN Sports pay-TV broadcaster in 25 Middle East and North African countries.

Ian Holmes, Formula 1’s director of media rights and content creation, has said: “I am delighted to announce that fans in India will be able to watch F1 on FanCode for the next two seasons. We have found a strong broadcast partner in them with expert knowledge on how we can best serve our 60 million existing fans and reach new audiences in India.”

The 24-race F1 season gets underway this weekend in Bahrain and will run through to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 8.

Other media rights tie-ups unveiled in the last few months include deals in Germany, Austria, Spain, and Belgium.

An Indian Grand Prix took place in the state of Uttar Pradesh between 2011 and 2013 but has not returned to the F1 schedule since then.
