The European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the continent’s major alliance of public service broadcasters, has secured a wide-ranging media deal with European soccer's governing body UEFA for the rights to the 2025 Women’s European Championship (WEURO 2025).

In total, 37 EBU members from 34 European countries will broadcast every match from the 31-game tournament live on their respective free-to-air services.

Highlights and shoulder content produced by Eurovision Sport, the EBU’s free-to-air streaming service, will be available to members throughout to supplement their broadcasts while providing an extra access point for fans.

The tournament will run through July 2-27, 2025, across eight venues in eight cities in Switzerland, which was confirmed as host back in April 2023.

Prominent EBU members that will broadcast the tournament include Germany’s ZDF, Belgium’s RTB, Croatia’s HRT, Austria’s ORF, host nation Switzerland’s SRG and SSR, and the UK’s BBC and ITV.

Speaking on the broadcast announcement, EBU executive director of sport Glen Killane stated: “This agreement for UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 is unprecedented in terms of broadcast reach and reinforces our commitment to showcasing women’s football, ensuring it continues to grow and thrive.

“The deal reflects the core strategy of the EBU and its members of enhancing the promotion of women’s sports with strong and even more increased members’ coverage complemented by the women’s football offer on Eurovision Sport.”

With England coming into the tournament as defending European champions and one of the favorites, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland still able to qualify, and the impressive viewing figures for the 2023 Women’s World Cup, ITV and BBC’s coverage in the UK is set to be extensive.  

BBC will broadcast the tournament on its linear channels and iPlayer OTT service, while ITV will do the same on its own ITV1 and ITV4 channels and ITVX platform.
