DirecTV launches new 40-channel sports bundle

The package will be available in select regions across the US.

The DirecTV US cable TV carrier has launched a new sports-focused network bundle encompassing 40 different sports channels.

Called MySports, the package will initially be available in 24 different metro areas across the US, including New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, and the San Francisco Bay area, with further regional availability to follow depending on the addition of local sports broadcasters to the package.

The bundle will include major sports broadcasters such as ESPN’s slate of channels (ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN News, ESPNU), and Fox Sports (FS1, FS2).

In addition, it will also offer sports league-specific channels such as MLB Network, NBA TV, NFL Network, NHL Network, and college sports channels from the major conferences ACC Network, Big Ten Network, SEC Network, and more.

At each local level, regional broadcasters owned by the ABC, Fox, and NBC media giants will also be included in the package.

MySports begins at $69.99 per month but DirecTV is offering a $49.99 price point for the first three months for those that sign up before February 28, 2025.

Alongside linear distribution, the package will also be available on the DirecTV app, as well as on other TV platforms such as Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV.

The inclusion of Disney-owned ESPN in the MySports package is only possible thanks to the September resolution of a bitter carriage dispute between the media giant and DirecTV.

Disney-owned networks were in blackout on DirecTV for close to two weeks, with ESPN claiming any renewals had to be on its terms, while DirecTV accused the media giant of attempting to strongarm it into an anti-competitive and anti-consumer deal.

The new deal was formally crafted to give long-term stability to the pair’s broadcast partnership.

Disney and DirecTV have also agreed on a carriage deal for Disney’s upcoming ESPN direct-to-consumer service, which it says will launch in 2025 and which DirecTV will offer at no extra cost to customers.
