DAZN, the international sports streaming platform, has picked up global broadcast rights to EuroLeague Women, Europe’s top-tier women’s basketball competition.
Under the agreement struck with FIBA Europe, the operating body responsible for the competition, DAZN will provide coverage in several of its territories as a global broadcast partner for the league.
Two EuroLeague Women fixtures per gameday will be streamed on the platform for free, including a ‘Game of the Week’ exclusive to DAZN.
The format for the 16-team competition was recently revamped ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, with the regular season now split into two rounds.
Initially competing in four groups of four during the first round, the bottom-placed sides will exit and move to the second-tier EuroCup Women, while the other 12 clubs will then continue to the second round of the top-tier EuroLeague.
The competition will then introduce a play-in round before a first-ever Final Six mini-tournament, where the eventual champion will be determined.
FIBA Europe executive director Kamil Novak has now said: “Women in basketball is a strategic priority for FIBA, and the impressive digital growth of EuroLeague Women underscores our collective efforts to elevate the sport.
“The partnership with DAZN signifies that EuroLeague Women has developed into a brand of substantial value, reflecting the ever-growing recognition of the property in the global women's basketball landscape."
Through its agreement with FIBA, which includes the Courtside 1891 streaming service, DAZN also streams live FIBA international games, including FIBA Basketball World Cups and all FIBA Continental Cup competitions.
DAZN’s basketball offering also includes live and on-demand regional competitions such as the Basketball Champions League, and the Intercontinental Cup, as well as a slate of other top-tier national competitions, such as the NBA, SLB, NBL, and Serie A Basket.
DAZN also unveiled a global deal with the UK's Super League Basketball in late September.
The platform stated that EuroLeague Women content will be positioned alongside these competitions and other free-to-watch content.
