DAZN, the global sports streaming heavyweight, has struck a five-year global deal with eSkootr Championship, the international electric race scooter series conceived in part to accelerate the use of micro-mobility solutions in cities.
Through the tie-up, DAZN will broadcast the series globally for the next half-decade, saying it is “the only pure-play sports platform in the position to bring this content to a global audience.”
Content including live action and on-demand broadcasting will be available free through DAZN.
This tie-up adds to the initial deal between eSkootr and DAZN, unveiled in May 2022, which ran for the championship’s first season.
The eSkootr Championship’s 2024-25 season - featuring 10 teams, each with three riders - will see six races occur across three continents, although specific location details have not yet been revealed.
Hrag Sarkissian, the co-founder and chief executive of eSkootr Championship, added: “We’re delighted to partner with DAZN to further expand the reach of the upcoming eSkootr Championship races for our fans. As motorsport disruptors, ease of access is one of our top priorities and DAZN’s free offer enables the racing series to reach a new global audience.”
For the inaugural 2022-23 season, other broadcast partners included Qatar-based BeIN Sports, the Saudi-owned MBC Group media company, the Claro Sports and Marca Claro channels in 18 countries across Latin America, and the Fox Sports pay-TV operator in Australia.
