Global sports streaming service DAZN has struck a two-year, near-global broadcast deal with Ironman, the worldwide triathlon event brand.

Through this tie-up, DAZN will broadcast all Ironman Pro Series races, including Ironman World Championship races and Ironman 70.3 World Championship triathlons. This content will all be available as part of the DAZN free tier, which launched at the back end of 2023.

In addition, registered users will also be able to watch a range of video-on-demand content throughout the Ironman season, on DAZN.

The deal covers all markets globally, except the US, Canada, and China (where races are shown exclusively on the Outside TV platform).

The agreement has been unveiled with five races of the Ironman Pro Series 2024 already having taken place, and with the Ironman European Championship Hamburg event coming up this weekend.

In total, 15 races remain this season, all set for coverage on DAZN. The season began in early April in California and will end in mid-December in Taupō, New Zealand.

In addition to DAZN and Outside TV, action from the remaining 2024 Ironman events are available via the proseries.ironman.com digital site and the L’Equipe network in France.

Originally owned by Providence Equity Partners, Ironman was acquired by the Chinese Dalian Wanda conglomerate in 2015. It was then sold to US media group Advance Publications in July 2020, with private equity firm Orkila Capital co-investing in the company.

The latter deal was worth $730 million and since then, the company has expanded its race calendar significantly, as well as its sponsorship portfolio.

In late January, the group named Scott DeRue as its new chief executive.

Warren Palk, DAZN’s managing director of media services, added: “Ironman races are competitions rooted in scale and we are pleased to have a significant role in increasing its global reach.”
