CazéTV, the Brazilian YouTube channel run by prominent streamer Casimiro Miguel, has secured rights to French soccer’s Ligue 1 in Brazil.

The agreement, which replaces ESPN’s coverage on its Star+ streaming service, will run for three years until the end of the 2026-27 season.

The deal follows a slew of recent acquisitions by the streamer, with the Europa League and Conference League also secured until 2026-27.

The streamer also has the broadcast rights in Brazil to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Athletico Paranaense's home matches in this season's Brasileirão, the Futsal World Cup 2024, and the National Futsal League 2024.

This comes as CazéTV is covering the ongoing UEFA Euro 2024 national team soccer tournament in Germany, having acquired the rights in 2023.

CazéTV’s package of rights was brokered by agency LiveMode, which manages the channel as a joint venture with Miguel. The channel currently has over nine million subscribers.

The YouTube channel live-streamed 22 matches during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and last year’s Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Ligue 1 features several Brazilian players, including Marquinhos and Lucas Beraldo at champions Paris Saint-Germain, Vanderson and Caio Henrique at Monaco, Ismaily (Lille), and Dante (Nice).

The deal in Brazil is a boost to Ligue 1 as it continues to find a solution for its domestic rights that are yet to be sold ahead of the upcoming new season.

With a domestic Ligue 1 broadcaster not forthcoming only a matter of weeks away from the beginning of 2024-25, the LFP recently proposed a solution, namely the creation of a new in-house dedicated Ligue 1 channel and DTC service which will carry 100% of domestic games.

The LFP did, however, manage to sell rights to the second-tier Ligue 2 to international pay-TV giant BeIN Sports last week.
