Canal Plus, the French pay-TV heavyweight, has renewed its domestic rights deal with golf’s PGA Tour for another seven years.

The extended agreement between the two parties will run from 2024 until 2030.

The broadcaster has held rights to the PGA Tour for almost 40 years.

Canal Plus’ golf portfolio in France includes the four major tournaments, the Ryder Cup, the President’s Cup, and all DP World Tour tournaments.

The broadcaster airs two to three tournaments per week and almost 3,000 hours of live action per year.

The pay-TV giant has continued its strategy of securing long-term renewals after agreeing deals to retain English soccer’s Premier League until 2028, motor racing’s Formula 1 and motorcycling’s MotoGP through 2029, and the World Rally Championship until 2030.

However, Canal Plus recently opted not to participate in the tender for the next domestic media rights cycle for French soccer’s top-tier Ligue 1.

This will mark the first time since the formation of Canal Plus in 1984 that the network will not air Ligue 1.
