France-based international broadcaster Canal Plus has secured exclusive broadcast rights to the 2024 edition of South American soccer’s showpiece Copa America national teams competition in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Canal Plus will broadcast the competition across its Canal+ Sport 1 and Canal + Sport 2 linear channels, and OTT streaming platform.

The Vivendi-owned broadcaster, which claims to have 8.1 million subscribers in Africa, will also run ancillary programming around the tournament in the form of a Copa America show broadcast every match night.

Hosted this year in the US, with participation from six North American national teams including the US, Canada, Jamaica, and Mexico, Copa America will begin on June 21 and run through July 15.

Canal Plus views sub-Saharan Africa as a growth region and in recent months has begun the process of fully acquiring MultiChoice, the owner of SuperSport (the main sports broadcaster in sub-Saharan Africa).

Meanwhile, US airline Delta and Chilean airline Latam have been unveiled as the official airlines of Copa America.

Both members of the Delta Air Lines alliance, the two carriers already collaborate to bridge South and North American cities.

Through the deal, Latam will offer exclusive promotions around the tournament in host cities and raffle off game tickets to customers.

The South American airline will also utilize its airport lounges to engage with Copa America fans across the duration of the tournament.

Governing body Conmebol has secured a host of partners for Copa America in recent weeks including TCL, Gran Centenario Tequila, Mercado Livre, BYD, Absolut Sport, Unilever, and Betano.

Other sponsors for the competition include Mastercard, Michelob Ultra, Puma, and Lowe's.
