German soccer’s Bundesliga has announced it set a record for attendance and ticket sales across its top two divisions for the 2023-24 season.

The number of tickets sold by the 36 clubs (acrtoss the first and second tiers) last campaign reached a total of 20,737,276 – the highest figure ever.

This exceeded the record from the previous season (19,755,465) by almost 5%.

With an average of 33,885 tickets sold per match, the leagues - the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga - set a new high for average attendance.

The Bundesliga alone, meanwhile, achieved total ticket sales of 11,925,726 with an average of 38,973 tickets per match.

As a result, the Bundesliga continues to lead the top European leagues in terms of average ticket sales per match in the 2023-24 season – ahead of the English Premier League and Italy’s Serie A.

The average occupancy rate of Bundesliga arenas (95.2 %) was up from the previous year’s level (92.6 %). Overall, 15 out of 18 top-tier Bundesliga clubs achieved an occupancy rate of more than 90%.

In the second-tier 2.Bundesliga, total ticket sales were also significantly higher than in the previous season. 8,811,550 tickets were sold which is an average of 28,796 tickets per match – the highest figure in the history of the league. Compared to 2022-23, the figure rose by almost 30%.

Meanwhile, Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen and Indian tyre manufacturer CEAT have agreed a new sponsorship deal for the next two seasons.

Under the agreement, the brand will serve as the club’s premium and tyre partner until June 30, 2026.

Ceat succeeds previous tyre partner Kumho Tire after its partnership with Bayer Leverkusen expired at the end of last season.

The contractual rights include extensive TV presence via the LED perimeter boards, via cam carpets on the touchlines, and on the substitution boards at matches at the BayArena.

In addition, Ceat will have a prominent presence on the media backdrops at Bundesliga press conferences and during matches.

The deal also includes hospitality benefits and the official Bayer 04 Leverkusen team bus will be equipped with Ceat tyres.

Further advertising services such as promotion rights for Bundesliga home matches and digital rights for activation via Bayer channels will feature in the deal.
