The World Triathlon governing body has announced it is welcoming hosting bids for several of its events next year.
The bidding process has opened for the World Triathlon Championship Series, World Triathlon Cups, World Triathlon Para triathlon events, Winter Triathlon World Championships, Winter Cups, and World Triathlon Development Regional Cups in 2025.
Interested cities are required to submit their applications before July 15 and the selection and announcement of the host cities will take place on September 16.
The World Triathlon Para triathlon events open to bidding will be the 2025 World Triathlon Para Series, World Triathlon Para Cups, and Continental Triathlon Para Cups.
The 2025 World Triathlon Development Regional Cups, which is open to bidding, encompasses events that aim to support developing nations’ racing experience within their continent or region and create a competitive environment for their athletes.
Marisol Casado, World Triathlon president and IOC member, said: “We are fully committed to finding the best host cities for our sport and engaging earlier with our host venues to collaborate on creating a sustainable, long-term strategy that keeps major events on track with modern priorities.
“The legacy piece is important, and using the Olympic and Paralympic movements to align our major events strategy with our members is vital as we move past Paris and into the following major games cycles.”
Last August, World Triathlon and the Professional Triathletes Organisation joined forces to recognize the PTO Tour as the official World Championship tour for long-distance triathlon.
