The US Open grand slam will continue to be shown by BeIN Sports in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) until 2027 after the international pay-TV sports broadcaster agreed a long-term renewal with the United States Tennis Association (USTA).

The exclusive five-year extension, which runs from 2023 to 2027, includes Arabic and English language coverage in the region.

BeIN has held the exclusive rights to the US Open for more than a decade.

The 2023 edition takes place from August 28 to September 10.

There will be particular interest in the region in Tunisian female tennis star Ons Jabeur as she seeks to win her first grand slam. Jabeur lost to Poland's Iga Swiatek in the final of the US Open last year.

BeIN also holds exclusive rights to the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon grand slams, in the MENA region.

Mohammad Al-Subaie, chief executive of BeIN MENA, said: “BeIN and the US Open have enjoyed a highly successful partnership over the past decade, bringing to the Middle East and North Africa some of the most memorable tennis matches of recent years.

“Interest in tennis is at an all-time high in this region and we are delighted to have the broadcast rights for five more years.”

Kirsten Corio, USTA chief commercial officer, added: “The US Open and BeIN have together delivered spectacular tennis to fans in the Middle East and North Africa for many years, and we are so very pleased to continue our partnership.

“As the world’s best tennis players compete on our grand slam stage, we look forward to continuing to expand the US Open audience throughout the region for many years to come.”

The USTA, over the last few weeks, has struck and renewed multiple commercial partnerships covering the US Open.

Soccer stands as the most active and main beneficiary of the payment sector's sponsorship spend

Engagement with the payments sector is not a new trend for sports rights holders, considering the year 2023, the sector remains one of the most profitable partners to the sports industry, with close to $2.5 billion commitment through 1385 active partnerships. Soccer is the primary recipient of the payment sector's $2.5 billion commitment to the sports industry in 2023, with soccer deals accounting for over 30% of total payment sponsorship value. Some of the largest payment sector companies, such as MasterCard and Visa, are at the forefront of sports sponsorship, aligning with popular sports entities to boost customer preference and increase their market share globally.
