BeIN Sports, the international pay-TV giant, has secured rights to Portuguese soccer’s top-tier Primeira Liga in France for the rest of the season.

The broadcaster’s coverage began on Friday (September 29) as it aired Benfica’s 1-0 win over rivals FC Porto.

The deal was brokered by Portuguese pay-TV operator Sport TV which is the league’s exclusive distributor of international media rights for the 2023-24 to 2025-26 seasons.

BeIN replaces pay-TV channel RMC Sport which opted not to renew its deal to show the league this season.

RMC Sport had shown the Primeira Liga to French audiences since 2016, but its parent company Altice made the decision to end the relationship.

The 18-team league was without a broadcast partner in France for the first six weeks of the 2023-24 season.

BeIN will show all Benfica, Porto, and Sporting matches for the remainder of the campaign.

Sport TV is the domestic rightsholder of the Primeira Liga and broadcasts the home matches of all clubs within the league except for Benfica, whose games are shown by the club’s in-house cable and satellite channel BTV.
