FIFA, soccer’s worldwide governing body, has announced US financial giant Bank of America as the official banking sponsor of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in a globally-facing partnership.

Bank of America becomes FIFA’s first global banking partner and will activate around the upcoming quadrennial soccer showcase, which will take place across the US, Canada, and Mexico in 2026 from June 11, through July 19.

The bank will utilize the visibility provided by the World Cup to engage in grassroots fan engagement projects and community outreach initiatives in collaboration with FIFA.

Gianni Infantino, FIFA’s president, stated of the new partnership: “Bank of America's commitment to community engagement both domestically and globally aligns with our goals for the tournament and beyond, while their support of FIFA on an international basis is a major milestone for our organization as we continue to serve our game for the benefit of the entire world."

World Cup 2026 will be the largest such edition of the event in history with a record 48 teams and 104 matches taking place across 16 cities (11 US, 3 Mexican, and 3 Canadian), and the expanded sponsorship inventory will make it a major target for prospective partners.

The opening game will be staged at Mexico’s 87,523-capacity Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, the largest venue at the tournament, while the final will take place at the 82,000-capacity MetLife stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Other current official partners of FIFA include oil and gas giant Aramco, sportswear company adidas, soft drinks conglomerate Coca-Cola, South Korea’s Hyundai and Kia car brands, global payments service Visa, and Qatari national airline and flag carrier Qatar Airways.

Bank of America’s most prominent sports partnership in the US is through the naming rights sponsorship of the 74,867-capacity home of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers, the Bank of America Stadium, which it has sponsored since 2004.

That venue is also the home of the Charlotte FC soccer franchise of North America’s Major League Soccer, and also hosted soccer games during the 2024 Copa America, which took place in the US.
