Baden Sports, the sports equipment retailer, has been signed up as the official ball supplier of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), Germany’s top-tier competition, for the next four seasons.
The exclusive long-term agreement will begin from the 2024-25 campaign and run through 2027-28.
Baden Sports will replace the BBL’s long-standing ball partner Spalding, which had supplied the league since the 2007-2008 season.
The deal was brokered by Baden Sports’ distribution partner Uhlsport, the German sportswear manufacturer.
In addition to the official ball partnership for the BBL's game operations, Baden Sports will provide customized ball merchandise for the clubs.
The partnership represents the US-based company’s first agreement with a European sports property.
Stefan Holz, managing director of the Basketball Bundesliga, said: “We are very much looking forward to working with Baden Sports as the first major European league.
“Baden is a young, dynamic company with a great drive for innovation. This fits perfectly with the ambitions of the Basketball Bundesliga.”
Jake Licht, chief executive at Baden Sports, added: “The cooperation with the Basketball Bundesliga is a real milestone in the history of Baden Sports.
“Through the partnership with the BBL, we are increasing our awareness in Germany and in the European market and are pleased that we have found a strong sales partner in Europe with Uhlsport.”
