Spanish commercial broadcaster Atresmedia will cover three events from motorcycling’s top-tier MotoGP World Championship free-to-air (FTA) across both the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

FTA coverage of the Spanish, Catalan, and Valencia Grands Prix will now be available through a two-season deal between MotoGP’s controlling organization Dorna Sports, Spanish rights-holder DAZN, and Atresmedia. Spain is one of the key MotoGP markets, with Dorna headquartered in Madrid.

Through this deal, the laSexta channel run by Atresmedia will broadcast MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3 race action live from each of those three events, while the MotoGP Sprint and qualifying action will also be made available through the Mega sister channel. All broadcasts will also be available on the Atresmedia over-the-top (OTT) platform, atresplayer.

DAZN holds Spanish TV rights to MotoGP for the 2023-27 cycle, through a deal unveiled in October 2022, but has now sub-licensed rights to a trio of events for the next two campaigns to Atresmedia.

In total, DAZN has held MotoGP rights in Spain since 2019.

This season, the Spanish Grand Prix will take place in late April in Jerez, the Catalan event will be held in late May in Barcelona, and the Valencia Grand Prix is set for mid-November.

In addition to the TV and OTT coverage, the trio of races will also “enjoy news coverage on Antena 3 Noticias, laSexta Noticias, and Onda Cero.”

Earlier this month, DF1, the newly launched commercial channel operated by DF1 Medien, secured FTA rights to MotoGP action in Germany through a sub-licensing agreement with Servus TV.

The long-term deal sees FTA coverage return for the series in a key market after ServusTV Deutschland, the Red Bull Media House-owned commercial channel, shut down at the end of 2023.

March has also seen MotoGP announce a new US broadcast partnership with the TNT Sports network.

The next MotoGP race of the 2024 campaign is the Grand Prix of The Americas, to take place in Austin, Texas, on April 14.
