AE Live, the UK-based sports broadcast graphics specialist, has extended its long-running partnership with Australian commercial broadcaster Channel Nine, for the duration of the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics and the Paralympics.
The company is providing Nine with specialist teams in the UK, France, and Australia.
The graphics specialist is working with Nine across the design, build, and delivery, of graphics for the Olympics, running in Paris between July 26 and August 11. This includes the delivery of a virtual studio in the French capital, and augmented reality (AR) elements.
The Australian AE Live team is also hosting virtual artists and AR operators from AE Live UK, augmenting the team’s work in Paris, where they are working closely alongside Nine’s onsite personnel.
Nine unveiled rights for the summer and Winter Olympics through to 2032 (with that edition to be held in Brisbane, Australia) early last year, with this edition marking the first time the broadcaster has covered Olympic action since the 2012 games. The previous editions were shown in Australia by Seven Network.
In terms of the existing relationship between AE Live and Nine, the pair have been working together over recent years on Nine’s coverage of Australian rugby league’s NRL, Australian Open tennis, cricket, and swimming.
This marks the second significant partnership extension announced by AE Live in July - earlier this month, the graphics specialist revealed a deal renewal with the ITV Sport wing of the UK commercial broadcaster.
The relationship between those two parties dates back over 25 years, and the extension will see AE Live work with ITV to develop “new innovations and enhancements to complement the extensive graphics and stats in use already.”
The specific properties covered by the partnership include soccer’s FA Cup and England men’s and women’s national team fixtures (including the ongoing men's European Championship), and rugby union’s English Premiership, Six Nations, and Champions Cup.
AE Live also works with broadcasters and production companies such as Sky Sports, Premier League Productions, and WTA Media.
