The Argentinian Football Association (AFA) and German sportswear giant adidas have extended their long-standing kit supply deal until 2038.

Through the long-term renewal, Adidas will continue to kit out Argentina’s men's, women's, and youth teams.

The brand has served as Argentina’s kit supplier since 2001.

The renewed deal will encompass the next four men's FIFA World Cups in 2026, 2030 (during which tournament one match will be held in Argentina), 2034, and 2038.

The AFA and Adidas have extended their deal during a successful period for the men’s national team having won the 2021 Copa America, and the Finalissima and FIFA World Cup in 2022.

Adidas also has a long-standing endorsement deal with Argentine superstar Lionel Messi.

The new agreement was announced before Argentina’s 1-0 win over Chile on Tuesday in their second match in this year’s Copa America in the US.

AFA President Claudio Tapia said: “We are delighted to forge a new partnership with Adidas until 2038. Our partnership spans several decades and this new long-term commitment allows us, as an organization, to drive the success of our national teams and invest in our communities.

“We are proud of the recent successes we have shared, but we will continue to focus on growing our game and on-field performance… In this respect, and many more, Adidas is the perfect partner for us.”

Adidas chief executive Bjoern Gulden added: “The AFA is one of the most successful federations in history. We have celebrated many successes together. It is a perfect partnership.”

The renewal with the AFA is a timely deal for Adidas having recently lost its long-running with the German national team to rival NIKE.

The DFB, the German football association, opted for a seismic shift, unveiling a deal with Nike in March for the 2027-34 cycle reportedly worth at least €100 million ($108.1 million).

In one of the most renowned technical deals in sport, Adidas and the DFB had a relationship stretching back to the 1950s.

Earlier this month, meanwhile, the AFA and Horcrisa, an Argentinean concrete mixer company, announced a new commercial agreement.
