Spanish infrastructure and energy firm Acciona Energía has been unveiled as the latest sponsor of sailing’s prestigious America’s Cup.
Through the agreement, the company becomes the official energy partner of the 37th edition in Barcelona, Spain taking place between August and October this year.
As a part of the deal, Acciona will sponsor the event and the fleet of four hydrogen-powered foiling chase boats.
Additionally, the energy firm will install solar panels on the roof of the cup’s pavilion at the official hospitality center, the AC37 Club, and at Team New Zealand’s base.
The organizers of the America’s Cup have secured several sponsors, most recently bringing in the Explora Journeys luxury ocean travel brand as a global partner.
The 2024 America’s Cup will be title sponsored by French luxury goods company Louis Vuitton, through a deal announced in October.
Other commercial partners include French IT firm Capgemini, global drinks giant Coca-Cola, Italy-based banking and financial services firm UniCredit, and Catalan beer brand Estrella Damm.
