The 2024 edition of motorcycling's MotoGP Grand Prix de France brought in a record-breaking crowd of 297,471 at the iconic Le Mans track over the weekend (May 10 to 12), making it the highest-attended MotoGP Grand Prix in history.

The previous record of 278,805 was set at the 2023 French GP, which was also MotoGP’s 1000th Grand Prix.

The Le Mans event is traditionally one of the most attended events of the MotoGP calendar, with the 2022 edition having attracted 225,000 fans.

Carmelo Ezpeleta, chief executive of MotoGP rights holder and organizer Dorna Sports, has said: “After Le Mans set a new all-time attendance record last season, the benchmark was high but the 2024 French GP delivered. Nearly 300,000 people across the weekend is absolutely incredible, and it is testament to the world-class work undertaken by PHA Claude Michy every year.

“The event is exactly what we want every time we race: stunning racing on track that fills the grandstands, paired with a full agenda of activities and entertainment to make every minute of the weekend something special for every fan.

"As for the fans, they are equally committed to the sport and show that every time we go out on track. They are young and diverse, reflecting the power of MotoGP to engage with a wide audience and create a powerful connection. As we look to grow the sport around the world, this is proof of concept that MotoGP is for everyone.”

The Le Mans title sponsor this year was French tire brand Michelin, with its official title being the Michelin Grand Prix de France.

The title sponsorship deal built on Michelin's existing relationship with the top motorcycling series as it already serves as the official tire supplier of the MotoGP World Championship.

It has held the role since 2016 and its current agreement runs until 2026. By the end of that contract, Michelin and MotoGP will clock up a decade of partnership together.
