International sports-focused streaming service DAZN has announced the departure of Bosco Aranguren, the chief executive of its Spain business, and appointed Oscar Vilda to replace him covering both Spain and Portugal.

Aranguren will depart DAZN on February 1 to “pursue a new project” after close to three years at the streamer, having first joined in April 2022.

Over that time, he has overseen several major tie-ups for DAZN in the countries that have expanded the streamer’s reach, including distribution deals with major telecommunications operators such as Orange, Telefonica, and Vodafone, as well as distribution pacts with fellow streamers such as Amazon’s Prime Video and WBD’s Max.

Speaking on Aranguren’s departure DAZN Group chief executive Shay Segev stated: “We are deeply grateful to Bosco Aranguren for his dedication, strategic vision and commitment over the past three years.

“Aranguren has been a key player in the consolidation and growth of DAZN in Spain and we wish him every success in this new phase.”

His replacement, Vilda, joins DAZN from Spanish fiber optic and mobile operator Finetwork, where he had been chief executive since April 2023.

Vilda left Finetwork abruptly in December 2024 amid an organizational reshuffle at the firm, with some Spanish outlets suggesting his departure came after a rift with the company’s owners and his “erratic” management, as well as a lack of profitability.

The Spaniard has a wide range of experience both in the country and internationally, including as Vodafone’s chief consumer officer (2012-2018) and at Qatari internet service provider Oredoo where he was executive director (2018-2023).

Segev added of Vilda’s appointment: “We are delighted to welcome Oscar to DAZN, who brings over 30 years of experience in the FMCG and telecoms sectors across Europe and the Middle East.

“His expertise and knowledge around brand, customer experience and channel development will greatly assist us as we continue to drive business growth.”

Vilda said: “Being part of the DAZN project, driven by the ambition of its directors and shareholders to turn the brand into the global home of sport and a meeting point for all fans, is probably one of the most exciting challenges I have faced in my professional career.

“Contributing to offering unique and specific responses to the needs of a specific type of customer, in a transparent way and taking advantage of the best available technology, makes this challenge even more exciting.”

Recently in the market, DAZN acquired the rights in Portugal to the all-electric motor racing series Formula E through its 2024-25 campaign, which began in December.
