Tottenham Hotspur, the English Premier League soccer club, has today announced the appointment of former Arsenal chief executive Vinai Venkatesham as their new CEO.

Venkatesham will officially take up the role with the North London side in the summer.

The experienced commercial executive has been out of work since leaving Tottenham’s rivals Arsenal at the end of the 2023-24 season after a 14-year stint at the club.

Venkatesham held several roles at Arsenal, working his way up the ranks since joining the commercial department in 2010 as head of global partnerships.

In 2013, he was promoted to a newly created role of director of marketing and sales, before becoming chief commercial officer in 2014.

Venkatesham was named managing director in 2018 and took on the role as chief executive in 2020 after the long-serving Ivan Gazidis departed to join Italian giants AC Milan.

Prior to joining Arsenal, he was part of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and is currently a non-executive director of the British Olympic Association.

Venkatesham was also formerly an executive board member of the European Club Association continental representative body.

Daniel Levy, Tottenham’s executive chairman, said: “The club has experienced significant growth in recent years, making it crucial to expand our executive management.

“I have known Vinai for many years, having worked together in the Premier League and the ECA. I am personally delighted that he has agreed to join our board as we build for success.”

Venkatesham added: “I’m excited to be joining Tottenham Hotspur this summer. After taking some time to recharge and evaluate my options, I believe this is an exceptional opportunity to work with Daniel, the board and all of the staff, to take the club forward.”
