Presidio Investors, a US private equity firm, has completed a deal to buy Hellas Verona, of Italian soccer’s top-tier Serie A.

Through a deal that was unveiled yesterday (January 15), the Texas-based investment firm has completed a 100% acquisition of the team, from previous owner Maurizio Setti.

This means that over half of the 20 Serie A teams (11) are now under foreign majority ownership.

Nine, meanwhile, are now owned or part-owned by North American individuals or groups, including heavyweights such as Inter and AC Milan.

Setti had been the Hellas Verona owner since 2012, becoming the sole shareholder in 2013.

Italo Zanzi, the former chief executive of fellow Serie A side Roma, now becomes Hellas Verona’s executive chair. Zanzi has previously held senior roles at Fox Sports Asia and Major League Baseball.
