Sabic, the Saudi Arabia chemicals company, has secured title sponsorship of Formula E’s upcoming London E-Prix doubleheader as part of a new long-term partnership struck with the international electric car racing series.
The partnership, which begins at the Sabic London E-Prix this weekend (July 30 and 31), will also see Sabic become a principal partner of Formula E.
Under the deal, the chemicals firm will work with Formula E to integrate its sustainable solutions into the series’ eco-system.
Sabic, in turn, will look to leverage its association with the series to expand business engagement and reach partners across the automotive and electric vehicle (EV) industries as part of its Bluehero initiative to support the shift to electric power.
Yousef Al-Benyan, Sabic vice chairman and chief executive, said: “Our sponsorship will drive global visibility of the Sabic brand within a relevant, exciting, and growing global sports platform.
“This offers Sabic a unique opportunity to transfer our innovations from Formula E into the broader automotive and EV industries benefitting our customers and partners and demonstrating our ability to support the world’s transition to EV and a more sustainable future.”

The 2021-22 season is scheduled to finish with a double-header in Seoul, South Korea on the August 13 and 14 weekend.
Last month (June), Formula E released its provisional calendar for the next 2022-23 season, which will feature a record 18 races across 10 cities and visit two new destinations.
Season 9, which is the start of Formula E’s Gen3 era, when “the fastest, lightest, most powerful and efficient electric race car ever built” will be introduced, will begin in Mexico City on January 14, 2023, and finish in London, UK, with a doubleheader on July 29 and 30 later that year.
It has kept the 2022-23 designation despite taking place within a single calendar year due to the knock-on effect of previous seasons that were disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The new season will see McLaren Racing compete in Formula E for the first time following its acquisition of the Mercedes-EQ Team, the addition of Maserati to the grid as it re-enters motorsport, ad the reappearance of ABT to the series after a hiatus in season eight.
In total, season nine will be contested by 12 teams and 24 drivers.
