The San Francisco Unicorns franchise of the US’ Major League Cricket (MLC) Twenty20 competition has secured a new official partner for the 2025 campaign, bringing in major car manufacturer Toyota’s Northern California Toyota Dealers regional franchise.
This partnership will see Toyota branding appear on Unicorns matchday trousers throughout the 2025 MLC campaign.
Furthermore, Toyota will also serve as the title sponsor of the team’s ‘2025 San Francisco Unicorns Family Day’ community engagement activation.
Pivot Agency, the sports marketing agency, brokered the deal on behalf of the San Francisco Unicorns, which it boasts as a client.
Speaking on the partnership, San Francisco Unicorns chief executive David White has stated: “As a team and an organization, we aspire to work with leading brands in their respective fields and Toyota is exactly that. Both as kit sponsors and as the key partner for our burgeoning Family Day event, we’re confident this will be a first-rate collaboration that drives awareness to both parties in 2025.
“Toyota is a household name and a byword for quality. Having them on board as partners shows both our commitment to collaborating with the best, as well as their own recognition of the Unicorns' deep roots in, and value to, the Bay Area.”
Major League Cricket begins on June 12, and will run through its July 13 final, with this season being the first that the Unicorns will compete on home turf courtesy of a multi-year stadium agreement with the Oakland Coliseum.
Recently, Major League Cricket appointed Johnny Grave as its new chief executive.
In the role, he will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of MLC's operations, including league expansion (it first launched in 2023), team development, and strategic partnerships.
Grave served as CEO of Cricket West Indies (CWI) for seven years up until October 2024, and has nearly 25 years of leadership experience in international cricket.
During his tenure with CWI, he oversaw three World Cups hosted in the West Indies and was the CEO for the 2024 men's T20 World Cup co-hosted with the US last June.
