The Unilever brand Rexona has become an official partner of the women’s national team soccer programme in Saudi Arabia.

Through a three-year deal unveiled yesterday (October 20), Rexona becomes the first official partner of the Kingdom’s women’s national team soccer programme across all levels.

This adds to Rexona’s other commercial tie-ups across women’s soccer, including agreements with English heavyweights Manchester City and Chelsea.

Unilever, meanwhile, acted as a sponsor of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand last year.

This latest tie-up, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) has said, will involve Rexona and Unilever working alongside the SAFF to “provide opportunities to women and young girls across the Kingdom to participate in the world’s game and advance women’s football in Saudi Arabia.”

Aalia Al-Rasheed, head of the women’s football department at the SAFF, has commented: “We have immense pride of how the women’s game and development of our Saudi Arabia Women’s National Programme has progressed in recent years, and this is the next step in continuing to reach new heights for women’s football and our national team programme in the years to come.”

In terms of women’s soccer in Saudi Arabia, the national team was only created in 2022 due to cultural, societal, and religious conservatism around the possibility up until that point.

The domestic Saudi Women’s Premier League, meanwhile, has been running since late 2020.
