Australia’s National Rugby League (NRL) has announced a new sponsorship deal with Red Bull, the Austrian energy drinks giant.

The deal makes the brand the official energy drink partner of the NRL and women’s NRLW from 2025.

The agreement will also cover the Men’s and Women’s Origin Series, Rugby League Las Vegas, the All Stars contests and the Pacific Championships, as well as Rugby League high performance and talent pathways.

NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo said: “We are delighted to partner with a global brand like Red Bull for the biggest events on the rugby league calendar.

“The success of rugby league in 2024 is highlighted by the stature of the partners attracted to the sport.”

Red Bull has stepped up its sports sponsorship activity in recent months, most notably partnering with English Premier League soccer clubs Newcastle United, Everton, Crystal Palace and West Ham United, and Italian outfit Torino.

The brand also acquired a minority stake in English second-tier side Leeds United in late May and also became the club’s primary front-of-shirt sponsor.
