Protocol Sports Marketing, the Canada-based international rights and marketing agency, has announced that it has been named the exclusive global media rights partner of the newly launched International Sumo League (ISL).
The International Sumo League features twenty-four live events comprising World Championship Sumo, held at major venues across the US and abroad, as well as Club Sumo, designed – theoretically, at least – to take place within more intimate nightclub settings.
ISL founder Noah Goldman said: “Once the industry sees our events, they’ll be hooked. We are excited to work with Protocol Sports to deliver International Sumo League to platforms worldwide.”
Protocol Sports Marketing president Lowell Conn added: "We are delighted that Noah and his team have appointed Protocol Sports to represent World Championship Sumo and Club Sumo to broadcasters and streaming platforms internationally.
“We are supremely confident that broadcasters, streaming platforms, and audiences worldwide will be captivated by the unique blend of athleticism and tradition that International Sumo League offers."
The ISL’s most recent event was its World Championship Sumo show on February 18, at the sold-out Prudential Center in New Jersey.
The next World Championship Sumo show is set to take place at Madison Square Garden in New York, on April 13.
Each event’s results contribute to an ongoing Grand Prix ranking, with championship tournaments at the end of each calendar year.
Last August World Pro Ski Tour appointed Protocol Sports Marketing to sell its global media rights.
The agreement sees the agency represent the ski racing property to international broadcasters and streaming platforms on an exclusive multi-year basis.
Protocol will seek to market and distribute World Pro Ski Tour media rights and bolster its revenue and global audience.
