A Special General Meeting of the ETTA, held during the AGM at Loughborough on Saturday (30th June), voted overwhelmingly (by 84.7% in favour, 15.3% against) to allow member leagues and counties discretion to opt out of the new ‘up to 11’ scoring system agreed by the International Table Tennis Federation in April, and to retain the traditional ‘up to 21’ scoring for their internal competitions if they wished.

The annual general meeting of the International Table Tennis Federation held at the World Championships, Osaka, Japan has by a large majority voted to change the scoring system from games up to 21 to games up to 11, with effect from 1st September 2001.
