Dutch sports broadcaster Ziggo Sport has renewed its motorsport portfolio with the retention of exclusive rights to a trio of major US series’ for varying lengths.

Ziggo Sport will continue as the exclusive broadcaster across the Netherlands of the Indycar open-wheel racing competition, the Nascar stock car racing series, and events organized by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA).

The Indycar series, which in 2025 will begin on March 2, has renewed with Ziggo for the coming five seasons, with coverage of the high-profile Indy 500 event included in the agreement.

Nascar has also renewed for the next five years, with its elite Nascar Cup series beginning in 2025 on February 2, with the iconic Daytona 500 then taking place on February 16.

The terms of the IMSA broadcast deal, meanwhile, are shorter, at three years, with that tie-up including the major 24 Hours of Daytona, as well as other endurance races on the IMSA SportsCar Championship.

Highlights for all races covered under the deals will also be shown on Ziggo Sport.

Speaking on the trio of partnerships, Ziggo Sport director Marcel Beerthuizen stated: “With this, we strengthen our position as the racing and sports channel of the Netherlands.

Alongside the trio of properties, Ziggo already holds Dutch broadcast rights to other motorsport series’ such as the all-electric Formula E, German sports car series DTM, and motorcycling’s elite MotoGP.

The trio of deals were announced prior to the 2025 24 Hours of Daytona race (January 25-26), which featured a number of Dutch drivers as well as talent formerly of the major Formula 1 (F1) series.

Formula 1, perhaps the world’s most high-profile and popular motor racing series, is one of the few which Ziggo does not hold the Dutch rights for, however, after rival OTT streamer Viaplay retained the rights in 2024 through the 2029 campaign.

Viaplay claims to have broken F1 viewing records year-on-year in the Netherlands, largely due to the success of a home driver, reigning World Drivers Champion Max Verstappen, which has coincided with a significant surge in popularity of the sport in the country over the last few seasons.

Outside of racing, Ziggo Sport holds significant rights in other sports such as soccer which include the top-tier UEFA Champions League, secondary Europa League, and tertiary Conference League, as well as golf’s PGA Tour and majors, and tennis’ Wimbledon grand slam major.
