North American soccer’s MLS has entered into a tie-up with ScorePlay, a provider of AI-powered digital and media asset management solutions in sports.
Through a deal unveiled today, ScorePlay will aim to increase MLS’ abilities in terms of managing and distributing content throughout the 30 clubs that make up the league.
A shared workspace will be launched, with automated content tagging, meaning all clubs can access and share content from their league fixtures, as well as those in the Leagues Cup knockout competition.
Athletes and commercial partners will automatically be identified and tagged, “ensuring quick, accurate distribution of media assets.”
Roman King, MLS’ creative director, said: “By implementing ScorePlay’s digital asset management system across all 30 clubs, we’re not just improving operational efficiency, we’re enhancing how our clubs and partners access, capture, and share the excitement of MLS during this period of rapid growth.”
Victorien Tixier, co-founder and chief executive at ScorePlay, added: “This league-wide implementation of the ScorePlay platform demonstrates MLS’ commitment to innovation and digital excellence. We look forward to helping MLS clubs streamline their content operations and deliver exceptional experiences to their fans.”
Overall, the tie-up aims to enable clubs to: access and share match content in real-time; use automated tagging; streamline media distribution; and enhance collaboration between different MLS clubs.
In terms of recent MLS partnership activity, last month the league brought in Boldyn Networks, a multinational communications infrastructure firm, as a new sponsor.
That firm is now the league’s official DAS (distributed antenna system) provider, and official connectivity partner, for all its teams’ venues.
ScorePlay, meanwhile, was unveiled as a partner of French league soccer’s LFP body in mid-March, coming on board as its new digital asset management provider.
The firm will provide the LFP with AI-driven digital media centralization technology, serving as a central platform for all LFP digital and social assets.
In February, meanwhile, ScorePlay secured $13 million in investment through a Series A funding round that featured several high-profile athletes and investment firms.
Founded in 2021, ScorePlay serves nearly 200 sports organizations worldwide, including major soccer federations and leagues such as European governing body UEFA, and teams from the Premier League (England), and LaLiga (Spain).
