French soccer’s LFP body has today announced partnerships with AI-focused companies Camb.AI and ScorePlay.

The multi-year agreement with AI translation tool Camb.AI was struck with the league’s LFP Media division and sees the firm become the official global language solution of the top-flight Ligue 1.

As part of the deal, the tech company will deliver matches to fans worldwide in their native languages. The multilingual accessibility will be offered through Camb.AI’s AI-driven language technologies and will serve the league’s international media partners.

By integrating Camb.AI’s AI translation, voice emulation, and dubbing technologies, Ligue 1 viewers globally will receive match broadcasts, commentary, interviews, and exclusive content in a language of their choice.

Martin Aurenche, chief media officer of LFP Media, said: “We have worked with Camb.AI over the last few months to identify multiple use cases and impact points that enhance our fan engagement and will bring unprecedented value to our international broadcasters.

“This partnership marks another step in LFP Media’s strategy to become the world’s leading league in AI-driven innovation.”

Akshat Prakash, CTO and co-founder of Camb.AI, explained: “Our agreement with LFP Media is yet another ratification of the holistic language transformation that we can bring to large organizations which delivers real improvements in consumer engagement, growth in revenue and reduction in operating costs.”

Camb.AI has previously collaborated with North America’s Major League Soccer (MLS), Tennis Australia, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, and the Eurovision Sport streaming platform.

The tech firm recently closed an $11 million Pre-Series A funding round, extending its previous raise of $4 million Seed round, featuring investors such as Accelerate Ventures, TRTL Ventures, 5Point Ventures, Oraseya Capital, Courtside Ventures, Dubai Future District Fund, and Comcast NBCU SportsTech.

Meanwhile, ScorePlay, a provider of AI-powered digital and media asset management solutions in sports, has been named as the league's new digital asset management provider.

Through the agreement, the LFP will utilize ScorePlay’s centralized platform to streamline the management and distribution of its media assets.

The French league body is seeking to use the tie-up to bolster its digital transformation, with a key focus on enhancing media operations and fan engagement across all platforms.

Among its services, ScorePlay will provide the league with AI-driven digital media centralization, serving as a central platform for all LFP digital and social assets.

ScorePlay will connect and distribute digital assets (photos, videos) directly to LFP platforms (website, app, fantasy, fan engagement platforms, etc), and support digital content delivery to multiple internal and external stakeholders, such as collaborators, clubs, partners, and agencies.

Ligue 1 and second-tier Ligue 2 clubs will have dedicated access to transfer media to their own ScorePlay workspaces, with the platform enabling both league-wide content distribution and club-level collaboration.

Last month (February), ScorePlay secured $13 million in investment through a Series A funding round that featured several high-profile athletes and investment firms.

Founded in 2021, ScorePlay serves nearly 200 sports organizations worldwide, including major federations and leagues such as UEFA, and MLS, and teams from the NBA, Premier League, LaLiga, and Ligue 1.
